Ma Ke
Ma Ke (Mǎ Kě 马可) was born 1971 in Changchun, with two clothing labels, “Exception de Mixmind,” a ready to wear brand launched in 1996 and “Wuyong,” a haute couture line founded in 2006. Her first Wuyong collection (“The Earth”) debuted in Paris Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2007, and her second (Qing Pin) July 3rd in
2008. In 2008 her fashion house Wuyong was appointed as a guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in France. Her studio is currently in Zhuhai on the southern coast of Guandong province.
Graduating from the Suzhou Institute of Silk Textile Technology in 1992 she studied women’s wear at Central Saint Martins. Her designed are renowned for the use of environmentally friendly fabrics and recycled materials, and for using traditional dye, weaving and embroidery techniques, especially those of the Dong people of Southern China.

Ping He 何平
Star's DesignerPing He graduated from Suzhou University and won an award at Shanghai Fashion week. After studying fashion design in the U.K. she went to work at high fashion labels including Camilla Staerk. In 2006 Ping
became Head of Design for Aftershock, following a successful career at as Head of Design for Japanese label Kurokawa. Her fans at Aftershock are said to have included American singer Madonna and movie star Uma Thurman. Alfred Sung
Alfred Sung (June 1948) is a Chinese born Canadian fashion designer that studied in Paris where he studied couture at the internationally famous Chambre Synidicale de las Couture Parisienne and graduated with honors. Then he moved to New York City to study at the Parsons School of Design, and then went to work on Seventh Avenue as a dress manufacturer. In 1972 he moved to Canada where he worked as a designer for a sportswear manufacturer in Toronto’s garment district. Then he opened a small shop called “Moon in Toronto’s trendy Yorkville neighborhood.
In 1980 he teamed up with Saul and Joseph Mimran to create Monaco Group In. that later developed into the Alfred Sung brand. Within months he found that he had struck gold when his brand started appearing in major department and specialty stores all around Canada. He launched his brand in the U.S. in 1981 through Saks Fifth Avenue. In in 81 Canada’s national news magazine, MacLean’s named Alfred Sung as Canada’s “King of Fashion.” Since then he has expanded into fragrances, eyewear, sunglasses, watches, bridal wear, jewellery and other fashion accessories. He is the recipient of numerous awards for fashion and industry accomplishments.

Henry Lau - Young and Trendy
Lau began to design clothing while he was a student at Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1992. He received his Bachelor of
Arts in Fashion Design in 1995. Lau participated in costume creation and image design for different local singers and celebrities such as Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Jay Chow, Hacken Lee, etc.
In 1996, Lau joined a fashion house and created trendy high fashion for Japan and South East Asia. The next year, he opened his own studio.
Lau opened his first shop, Spy Theatre, at the Rise commercial building in Tsim Sha Tsui in 1998. Spy Theatre's mission is to provide fashion to young and trendy people. In March 1998, Lau presented his first in-house fashion show. Not only was it successful, but Lau also made the Rise commercial building another trendy shopping center for the fashion conscious in Hong Kong. In October 1998, Lau hosted his Autumn/Winter Collection, entitled "Spy at Sea", in Central. This afternoon fashion show was held on the street, and pedestrians were part of the show.
In July 1999, Lau presented his latest collection in "Hong Kong Fashion Flash Show for Spring/Summer 2000" for Hong Kong Fashion Week. This collection successfully attracted a buyer, Joyce Boutique, who developed the "Shen" label now available at Joyce Boutique. In October, Lau was invited by Nokia to design 20 sets for their products. In the next year, Lau would design costumes for cable TV hosts, especially for their millennium show.
Lau held a house show in HK Fashion Week in January 2000. His collection was described as "the most picture-perfect show of the week" by the Hong Kong and Singapore media. In March, Lau was invited by Beijing Fashion Week to present his latest Spring/Summer collection. In May 2000, Lau designed 30 showpieces for the worldwide diamond company Debeers. In early June, Lau was invited by Singapore Motorola to present his latest collection with their new phone promotion campaign. In September, Lau opened his second shop in Causeway Bay, which featured a more delicate design collection.
In 2001 Lau opened his third shop in Causeway Bay as a couture house, and started he first consignment crossover with the new concept store A02. The nex year, he designed four sets of costumes for Cantonese pop queen Anita Mui's 2002 concert, and started to sell his collection
in Shanghai.
In January 2004, Lau was invited by a local magazine, Zip, to hold a fashion show for HK Fashion Week. This collection would help Lau successfully
open a new market, India, in which Dubai company Villa Moda has placed over a million after Lau's successful collections in Dubai and Kuwait. Just one week
after the fashion show, Lau again designed costumes for a Hacken Lee concert. His costumes impressed the press and audience, and the newspaper quoted, "Hacken was wearing an art piece more than a costume..."

Vivienne Tam
Vivienne Tam (Chinese: 譚燕玉; pinyin: Tán Yànyù) (born 28 November 1957) is a fashion designer based in New York City. She was born in Guangzhou, China and moved to Hong Kong at the age of three. She attended Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Tam's fashion brand is named after her and is inspired by Chinese culture, design and modern fashion; East meets West. The theme of her first collection was EAST WIND CODE. Her shops can be found in most major cities around the world. She authored China Chic, a book on Chinese style meeting Western style. She has worked with Hewlett Packard on a special Vivienne Tam range of designer netbook computers, such as a version of the HP Mini 1000and the HP Mini 210. Tam also appeared on Stardoll.com where she has her own suite and brand name. She has also designed dresses for the characters in the Animaxmovie LaMB.

Masaki Sakamoto, president of Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation, sings high of Zou's design. "Zou You is one of the top fashion designers in China.
As an associate professor at Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology, he is very well versed in fabrics. He can play a leading role in Chinese designing industry. I have high expectations of his 'Bemberg' collection." Believing the best design is the simplest, the designer makes good use of natural fabrics, which is manifested in the 'Bemberg' collection, giving out a sense of comfort and a touch of nature. The award sponsored by Asahi Kaisei is to promote creativity in the fashion industry and cultivate talented designers in China.

Uma Wang
Chinese fashion designer Uma Wang is filled with happiness when she finds out her creations are displayed with those from Emporio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Z Zegna. Uma Wang graduated from St Martins College and opened her own label in London in 2005. Now she has 15 shops around the world. Her trademark overcoats are dark, and the heavy fabrics can be wrapped over the body, which creates an elegant style. |
